PM Modi to Inaugurate UAE’s First Hindu Temple

Ram Mandir

The BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi has finally been constructed after many years of labor on a parcel of donated land in the Abu Mureikhah, Al Rahba neighborhood, close to the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway and the Abu Dhabi-Sweihan-Al Ain Road. The temple's seven towers stand in for the UAE's seven emirates.

Starting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He is scheduled to inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi during this visit, which will be his seventh trip to the country since 2015.

The prime minister will inaugurate the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) temple in Abu Dhabi on February 14. The Swaminarayan Mandir Abu Dhabi will subsequently welcome visitors from March 1. A visitors center, prayer halls, exhibits, kid-friendly sports facilities, learning zones, food court, themed gardens, book and gift shop, and a host of other facilities are all part of the temple complex.

There's nothing like the desert temple. It is the Middle East's first authentic "Hindu stone temple". Not in the traditional Hindu temple style, but more like villas, are the few other temples that exist in the Middle East.

BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and Mandir Limited were chosen by both THE governments to build, develop, and administer this marvelous mandir project.

The inauguration of BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi is scheduled for tomorrow. The temple is a marvel of architecture, constructed in accordance with the ancient Hindu shilpashastras. The interior is finished with handcrafted white marble from India, while the exterior is adorned with pink sandstone from Rajasthan. Over the past three years, over 2,000 artisans from Gujarat and Rajasthan have painstakingly carved white marble pillars with intricate designs of animals, musicians, and celestial elements.

BAPS emphasized that the mandir follows environmentally friendly procedures, lowering its carbon footprint by substituting fly ash for a sizable amount of cement in the concrete mix. The temperature, pressure, stress, and seismic events of the structure are being tracked by more than 300 additional sensors.

The temple has seven shikhars, each of which represents an Emirate of the United Arab Emirates. It also has features such as a replica of a sand dune, an amphitheater that resembles the Ganga ghats in India, and symbolic streams that stand in for the Yamuna and Ganga rivers in India. The mandir also combines lessons from different cultures, illustrating how love is a universal religion.

The Swaminarayan Mandir in Abu Dhabi has two central domes, known as the "Dome of Harmony" and the "Dome of Peace," stand for the temple's commitment to fostering peace and its openness to people of all faiths. Numerous Indian deities, including Swaminarayan, Akshar-Purushottam, Radha-Krishna, Rama-Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman, Shiva-Parvati, Ganesha, Kartikeya, Padmavati-Venkateshwara, Jagannath, and Ayyappa, have idols (murtis) at the temple.

With its distinctive architectural style, the BAPS Hindu Mandir complex seeks to serve as a hub for values, art, and culture. Through its mandirs, centers, and volunteers, BAPS is a global social and spiritual organization that is based on community and driven by volunteers. It serves millions of people worldwide.
